When to call us
- The handle will not lift fully into its usual locking position.
- The key will not complete its turn after you lift the handle.
- The handle feels loose or moves without operating the locking points.
- The door catches on the frame or has become harder to close.
Why changing the cylinder may not cure the fault
The euro cylinder is the keyed component, while the multipoint mechanism operates locking points along the door edge. Replacing one does not automatically repair the other. Equally, sound hardware can be difficult to operate when the door is out of alignment. Explain any rubbing, catching or change in handle movement alongside the key problem.
Do not force an increasingly reluctant handle
Extra pressure is not a repair. If normal operation is no longer possible, avoid repeated attempts and call 020 3519 9290. Make clear whether the door is stuck shut or cannot be secured. PrimeKey London provides emergency support as well as planned repairs, with the approach determined by the actual door condition.
What happens next
- Explain what still works
Say whether the door opens, closes and locks, and whether the problem arrived suddenly or became worse gradually. Describe anything already noticed; there is no need to dismantle the handle or mechanism.
- Assess the door and mechanism
Alignment, the cylinder, the central gearbox and other multipoint components are possible areas to assess. A stiff handle alone does not establish which part, if any, needs replacing.
- Agree repair or replacement
The findings guide the proposed work and quote. If replacement parts are needed, compatibility matters; ask about the likely arrangements before relying on a same-day completion.
