Identify where access stops
For an apartment building with reception or a concierge, explain how a visitor reaches your door and who can authorise any communal work. If electronic entry equipment is involved, say so: a mechanical lock repair does not automatically include an intercom or fob system. Keeping those details separate helps establish what support is needed and who should coordinate it.
A multipoint fault needs more than a cylinder guess
If your property has a uPVC door, report a handle that will not lift, a key that will not finish turning or a door that catches as it closes. Alignment, the euro cylinder and the multipoint mechanism are different possible causes. A loose handle is not enough to confirm a failed gearbox, and forcing it can make matters worse.
Be clear if the property cannot be secured
Being inside does not make the problem routine if the entrance will not lock. Call 020 3519 9290 and explain whether you can stay at the property, whether the door closes and any building access restrictions. PrimeKey London offers emergency support and planned repairs, with the recommended work and quote explained before starting. Replacement parts depend on the hardware identified.
Choose the help you need
Before you call
Have your postcode ready and explain whether the door opens, whether the key turns and whether you can secure the property. For shared buildings, tell us about concierge arrangements. An adult authorised to request the work should be available.
We discuss availability and the quotation before proceeding. Read our guide to locksmith quotes for the questions worth asking.
